We have a lot of amazing women here in the Gunnison Valley. From entrepreneurs to competitive skiers and snowboarders, to the creative artists, you will find that the women here are strong and have a drive for greatness as well as a love of the great outdoors. Olympian Emma Coburn grew up in Crested Butte, Colorado and has made us all very proud of her accomplishments. A 2016 Rio Olympics Bronze Medal winner Emma had the entire nation cheering her on.

Emma Coburn's Elk Run 5k, is a premier event which she has founded, which is intended to encourage runners of all abilities. Emma's Elk Run 5k hopes to attract runners from across the state in support of a great cause while also promoting both health and fitness. Emma Coburn's Elk Run 5k is scheduled for Saturday September 30, 2017 right here in Emma’s beautiful hometown of Crested Butte, Colorado. This race is a significant fundraiser in support Living Journeys, an organization Emma has worked with in the past.

Living Journeys is a Gunnison Valley non-profit organization providing support, education and awareness to people living with cancer and their loved ones. They provide help to individuals and their families in a desperate time of need. They not only offer emotional support programs but also some relief from financial stresses. Emma is very excited to have this opportunity to work with Living Journeys once again. This race and its cause means a lot to Emma.

The race kicks off Saturday September 30th at 10:00 in the middle of historic Elk Avenue and takes runners out past Peanut Lake and finishes in the shadows of Mt. Crested Butte.
